Gabriel Braga is a Brazilian featherweight and one of the most dangerous strikers in the division. He is from Rio de Janeiro and fights out of Tropa Thai, the gym founded by his late father. Braga built his early reputation on Muay Thai and carries knockout power in his right hand. He reached a PFL featherweight world championship final in his first campaign with the organization and has stayed near the top of the division since. He is well rounded enough to win on the mat, but the striking is what makes him a problem for anyone at featherweight. He is among the higher ranked featherweights on the PFL roster.
Braga grew up training under his father, a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt and mixed martial arts veteran. That upbringing gave him a striker's timing and a grappler's base at the same time. He opened his professional career with a long unbeaten run, competing for regional organizations including Legacy Fighting Alliance and UAE Warriors. He earned his place on the PFL roster through the Challenger Series, fighting his way in rather than arriving on a signing. His game leads with Muay Thai influenced boxing, careful distance management and heavy right hands, and he has shown real submission instincts when a fight goes to the ground. He fights at a pace that asks questions early rather than waiting for the later rounds.
Braga's right hand is his defining weapon, and it has ended fights outright, including the knockout of Marlon Moraes that sent a former world champion into retirement. He advanced to a PFL featherweight championship final, getting there with a split decision over Chris Wade in the semifinal round. He has also beaten Jesus Pinedo and Bubba Jenkins inside PFL, the kind of names that mark a fighter as a real contender rather than a prospect. He has taken a first round submission by neck crank as well, turning an opponent's grappling against him rather than avoiding the mat altogether.
