Marcelo Golm’s MMA career began in 2015, scoring five straight first-round knockouts. Golm went 1-3 in her next four fights but ended up winning back-to-back bouts before signing with Bellator in 2021. The American Top Team product scored finishes of Billy Swanson and Davion Franklin before a loss to Daniel James. Golm lost to James in a rematch during the first half of the PFL 2024 season in April.

 

An amateur champion at the state and national level, going on to be named NCAA Division II Wrestler of the Year in 2013, Tyrell Fortune signed with Bellator in 2015 and made his debut in the promotion the next year. Fortune went 13-2 (2 NC) with Bellator, scoring nine finishes and scoring wins over Matt Mitrione, Said Sowma and Jack May. Fortune, who makes his PFL debut tonight, fought most recently at Bellator 294, earning a DQ win over Sergei Bilostenniy.

 

The loser of this matchup is eliminated no matter what. Golm needs any sort of finish to remain in the postseason hunt, while Fortune needs a finish in round one or two.

 

 

Round 1

 

Fortune level changes and looks for the takedown, but Golm defends the attempt and lands a knee to the body. Fortune brings Golm to the edge of the SmartCage. Both men land knees to the legs. Some dirty boxing from both men against the fence before the clinch breaks and the two return to the center. Golm lands a couple of left hands. Golm with a push kick, followed by a low kick. Fortune with a quick jab. Fortune goes for another takedown, but Golm stops it. Fortune, however, lands an uppercut on the break. Low kick from Golm, but Fortune lands a right hand. One-two from Golm.

 

Right hand by Fortune. Fortune comes in, and Golm tries to clinch. Fortune backs out of it, however. Uppercut by Fortune. Fortune level changes but cannot get the legs. Body shot by Golm, and Golm fires a flurry. Left hand by Golm. Fortune cracks Golm with a right hand! Front kick by Golm. Golm with a flurry that seems to be overwhelming Fortune. Golm bringing the volume with short, fast punches. Fortune landing to the body in close. Golm with a knee in a clinch against the fence. Fortune with a small flurry that cracks Golm! Golm goes down and Fortune fires off a flurry! The bell sounds and the referee steps in!

 

 

Fortune is celebrating, but the referee never waved the fight off!

 

 

Round 2

 

The doctor clears Golm to continue the fight. High kick from Golm cracks Fortune! Golm pursues. Fortune level changes and scores a double-leg takedown! Golm throws his guard up. Golm scrambles over to the fence, but Fortune drags him back to the ground. Fortune in side control as he tries to work over Golm. Fortune brings down some hammer fists. Fortune fires away again.

 

 

Fortune trying to move into mount. Golm looks for an underhook, but Fortune flattens him out. Golm gets his guard back up. Fortune fires off the left hand. Fortune throws the right a couple of times. Fortune firing off punches a few at a time before trying to work around Golm’s guard. Surprisingly, no warning from the referee at any point. Armbar attempt and a sweep leads to Fortune moving into side control. Fortune gets to Golm’s back by the round’s end, landing right hands seemingly at will.

 

 

Round 3

 

Fortune scores an early takedown of Golm here. Golm trying to work his way out of it, but Fortune’s wrestling is overwhelming. Fortune working the body. Fortune lands to the head a few times. Fortune’s top pressure is giving Golm trouble. Fortune lands a few hooks to the body.

 

Golm looking to get back to his feet, but Fortune brings him back to the mat. The round is just overwhelming Fortune’s control – working over the body and head of Golm with strikes, with no answer from Golm to escape. Fortune postures up and lands a few power shots before the bell.
