At just 24 years old, Christina Breuer is already an accomplished kickboxer, currently holding a 17-2 record. In fact, she is one of just two people to say they have defeated Jorina Baars, one of the best women’s kickboxing and Muay Thai talents. Breuer, who won the Enfusion Extreme Featherweight Kickboxing title in June 2022, made her professional MMA debut just a couple of months ago, scoring a second-round submission of Annabell Honert.

 

Known as “Lady Tyson” thanks to her striking style, Ruby Mesu, also a kickboxer, will be making her professional MMA debut tonight. Mesu’s run in combat sports is a remarkable one after suffering a broken neck in a 2016 car accident that forced doctors to fuse three cervical vertebrae together. She returned after a year and a half of rehab.

 

Which of these two kickboxers will make an impression in this showcase bout?

 

 

Round 1

 

A couple of low kicks from Breuer to start things off as Mesu attempts to press forward. Mesu showcasing front kicks and looking to follow with single shots and combinations. Right overhand on the back foot by Breuer. A front kick from Breuer, as Mesu continues to come forward and get around the distance advantage Breuer has. Strong left hand from Breuer. Mesu with a front kick, and Breuer answers with a one-two.

 

Breuer comes over the middle with a couple of strong left hands that wobble Mesu a little. Mesu tries to show power, landing a strong right, but Breuer lands another powerful combination. Solid right hand from Breuer. Mesu misses a couple of counterpunches, and Breuer lands a front kick to the body. Breuer with a strong right hook. A low kick from Breuer. Mesu misses another one-two before the horn.

 

Round 2

 

 

Mesu is still struggling with range, missing another one-two. A powerful right hand by Breuer forces Mesu back. Right kick upstairs by Mesu. Breuer lands another right hook and then dodges. Spinning back fist by Breuer, who follows it with a left high kick. Mesu catches a kick but misses another one-two. Left hand by Breuer, and Mesu lands one of her own. Breuer lands another hook and a front kick to the face. Mesu grapples up briefly but they quickly separate off a clinch.

 

Breuer continues to dodge Mesu’s strike attempts. A solid one-two from Breuer wobbles Mesu, and another combination from Breuer forces Mesu into retreat, as Breuer fires a flurry with Mesu pinned against the cage. Mesu covers up and tries to counter, but to no avail as the referee is forced to step in!
