Legendary WWE Ring Announcer of 15 Years Joins the PFL and Will Introduce Roster of Top Global Talent at Every PFL Event
Thursday Night is PFL MMA Night Starting May 9 on ESPN2, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes
The Professional Fighters League today announced former WWE Ring Announcer Lilian Garcia as the In-Cage Announcer of the PFL. Over the course of 15 years with the WWE, Lilian became one of the most recognized ring announcers in professional wrestling history. Now, PFL fighters will enter the cage with a legend in the game introducing them to viewers around the world.
“The built-up energy and anticipation in that moment when fighters enter the cage for combat is unmatched, and we needed a talent who could rise to the occasion,” said George Greenberg, Executive Producer of the PFL. “We are thrilled to welcome Lilian Garcia to the PFL family, her legendary voice will introduce our roster of top fighters from around the world and set the stage for thrilling, action-packed, Thursday Night fights.”
“I’m looking forward to stepping in the cage and getting back to introducing fighters to the masses, something I truly love and have missed,” said Garcia. “What I find most intriguing about the PFL is that every fight matters. Each fighter enters the cage knowing they are competing for a shot at a title and million-dollar prize. There is so much drama surrounding that moment, and I’m honored to help bring it to life for fans in the arena and watching at home.”
During her time as Host, Singer and Announcer for WWE’s Monday Night Raw and Interviewer on Smackdown, Lilian was seen and heard in over 186 countries and in 35 different languages. She was also the first female to host a WrestleMania. Lilian has become a fixture in American sports, singing the national anthem at numerous stadium-filled events for the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, the US Open Tennis Tournament and the Summer Olympic Games.
Starting May 9, Thursday night is PFL MMA night. Every PFL event will air across ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+, — the leading multi-sport streaming service, in addition to TSN in Canada, and leading local broadcasters in 130 countries around the world.
About Professional Fighters League
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) presents MMA for the first time in the sport-season format where individual fighters control their own destiny, competing in a regular season, playoffs, and championship. PFL’s differentiated format and exciting fights sparked breakout growth for the league. PFL events are Thursday nights primetime live on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
The PFL 2019 Season features elite MMA athletes across six weight classes, including the first-ever 155-pound women’s division, with each fighter having two fights during the PFL Regular Season in May, June, July, and August. The top eight fighters in each weight class advance to the single-elimination PFL Playoffs in October, where fighters must fight twice and win twice in the same night to advance to the finals. PFL Championship is New Year’s Eve with the winners of each title bout being crowned PFL World Champion of their respective weight class and earning $1 million. Viewers will be delivered next-gen stats never before seen in MMA through the PFL’s proprietary SmartCage™ platform and Cagenomics™ technology.
