Abbas Khan made his MMA debut in late 2020, winning six of the eight fights he has had thus far. A boxing specialist, Khan, known as “The Golden Eagle,” has scored three finishes and is known for his resilience. Khan last fought in December in a loss to Chad Griffiths.

 

Georges Eid is a 12-year veteran of MMA but will be competing tonight for the first time in nearly three full years. Eid is a former title challenger on the regional circuit, specializing in Wushu Sanda and fighting out of Lebanon’s TriStar Gym. Eid’s last fight came in a first-round TKO of Ali Moftah in November 2021.

Round 1

 

Both men trade to start. Khan with a high kick. Low kick from Khan. Eid lands a strong one-two. Another combination from Eid, and his power is backing Khan up. Eid is swinging, landing powerful inside hooks. Khan looks to get inside, dirty box and score a takedown. Right hand lands for Eid, and he drops Khan! Khan gets back to his feet. Eid with a couple of right hands. Khan with another high kick, but it’s blocked. Low kick from Eid, and both men land inside. Khan level changes and gets a takedown near the fence. Khan gets to Eid’s back. It’s a battle for wrist control, and Eid is able to get back to his feet while staying in control.

 

Eid avoids a trip attempt and gets the fight back to the center. Combination ending with a low kick from Eid. One-two from Khan. Left hand from Eid. Both men miss hooks. One-two from Eid stumbles Khan. Khan tries to get inside again, but Eid avoids it. Khan looks for a leg, but Eid stops his takedown and now he’s the one on top! Khan tries to get a hold of a leg from the bottom. Khan gets up his guard. Khan trying to grapevine Eid’s legs from the bottom. Not a lot of action on the ground, as Khan keeps Eid’s action limited until the horn.

 

 

Round 2

 

High kick from Khan is blocked. Low kick from Eid. Eid misses a big hook, and Khan grabs a hold of him, bringing Eid back to the fence. Eid gets him off with a powerful one-two, with the left hook rocking Khan! Khan, however, manages to time things and gets a takedown of Eid. Eid gets back to his feet in a battle for wrist control again, however. Spinning back kick to the body lands for Eid. A couple of more powerful hooks from Eid. Eid stuffs another takedown attempt. Khan goes for another takedown, and it’s stuffed. Eid gets on top again, and Khan again throws up his guard.

 

Big left hand lands for Eid. Khan trying to create distance. The fight returns to the feet. Eid with a combination. Khan tries for another level change, and Eid again stops it and gets back on top. The fight returns to the feet. Eid lands more big shots with Khan’s back near the fence. The two return to the center. Right hand stumbles Khan! Another powerful shot and Khan is backed up to the fence. Eid working powerful combinations! Khan shoots, and he scores the takedown to save himself! Khan controls the legs and finishes the round on top.

 

 

Round 3

 

Uppercut from Eid. Khan shoots in, but Eid stops it. Low kick from Eid. Two hooks land for Eid, and he stops another Khan takedown attempt. Combination from Eid. Khan shoots in again, and Eid stuffs it, getting on top again. Khan once again tries to use his legs and stop Eid’s offensive flurry. Khan with butterfly hooks in.

 

Eid landing a few left hands. Khan not producing a lot of offense. Not a lot of activity coming in this position, and it’s all coming from Eid. Khan looking to control the arm. Eid lands a few heavy left hands to the head of Khan. Khan tries to grab a hold of the wrist. Khan is able to get the fight back to the feet with just under 30 seconds to go. Eid lands a couple of strong left hands, landing some powerful shots before the horn.

Georges “The Bulldozer” Eid defeats Abbas Khan by unanimous decision (30-27x3) in a PFL MENA Lightweight Regular Season bout, earning his place in the 2024 PFL MENA Playoffs. He’ll face the winner of Abdullah Saleem vs. Omar Reguigui.
