Cris Cyborg Locks Up Second Career Submission To Retain Women’s Featherweight Title

Cris Cyborg has one of the most decorated careers in the sport and is in the conversation for MMA’s greatest female athlete of all time. Cyborg has won championships in every major promotion that she has been in and has only lost twice in her career – her professional debut in 2005 and her superfight with Amanda Nunes in 2018. Cyborg picked up the PFL Women’s Featherweight World Title in her PFL debut last October, defeating Larissa Pacheco.
Originally a judoka, Sara Collins competed for years as a member of Australia’s national judo team. Since moving to MMA, Collins is 6-0, making her PFL debut tonight after a 3-0 run with Bellator. She last fought in September 2024, submitting Leah McCourt.
Who will be the PFL Women’s Featherweight World Champion?
Round 1
Low kick from Collins. Right hand by Cyborg. Low kick by Cyborg. Right hand from Cyborg is blocked. Low kick from Cyborg, but Collins stumbles her back with a lead hand. Right hand by Cybog again coming forward. A pause for an accidental eye poke. Fight resumes, and both land low kicks. High kick by Collins. Cyborg tries to walk Collins down as she stays outside. Front kick to the body by Collins. Cyborg presses him briefly. Both land right hands. Front kick again by Collins. Low kick by Collins.
Cyborg scores a takedown and goes right to the back. Collins gets back up, but not before eating some right hands from Cyborg. Cyborg level changes and lands some more strong right hands. Low kick by Collins. Cyborg with a combination. Strong leg kick by Cyborg stumbles Collins. Body shot by Cyborg. One-two from Collins. Right hand by both women. Front kick by Collins. Cyborg grabs a kick and presses Collins into the fence, adding in a couple of punches, before the horn.
Round 2
Inside leg kick from Collins. Front kick by Collins. Low kick by Cyborg. We get a clinch briefly. Right hands from both women. Another strong right hand by Cyborg. The two trade, and Cyborg throws a big kick, only to be blocked by Collins. Collins’ kick is then blocked by Cyborg. Another Cyborg kick and another exchange. Collins blocks a kick and scores the takedown. Cyborg looks to try and lock up an arm with her legs with the guard positioning.
Cyborg trying to limit Collins’ offense and land from the bottom. Left hand landing near Collins’ ear. Cyborg is threatening an armbar and a triangle, but Collins gets out of there. Cyborg gets back to her feet. Low kicks by Cyborg. Cyborg grabs a leg near the fence. Cyborg lands a couple of knees to the body, pressing her against the fence. A couple of right hands from Cyborg. Collins gets away, then lands a left hand. Cyborg pressures again and lands to the body. Knee by Cyborg. The two trade positions, with the round ending with Cyborg pressing Collins near the fence in a clinch.
Round 3
Low kick by Collins. Cyborg with one of her own. Both flash their right hands. Front kick by Collins. A little flurry by Collins, but Cyborg answers with a strong one-two. Body shots by Cyborg. One-two by Cyborg. A couple of strong right hands by Cyborg, and Collins clinches up. Knee by Cyborg, but Collins gets a judo throw to take her down. Collins lands a couple of punches to the head. Collins might be hunting for an Americana.
Cyborg defends it and works her way to Collins’ back. Cyborg gets in a rear-naked choke. Collins tries to defend, but it’s getting tighter. Collins taps out!
