The Professional Fighters League (PFL) held the weigh-ins for its first-round playoffs matchups of the 2021 season Thursday, Aug. 12. The official pre-fight check took place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Taking place Friday, Aug. 13, on ESPN+ and ESPN2, PFL Playoffs 1, 2021 features the men’s welterweight and lightweight divisions as competitors look to earn their place in the biggest night of MMA: The $6 million PFL World Championship.

Atop the main card on ESPN2 is a welterweight showdown between 2019 PFL Welterweight World Champion Ray Cooper III and promotional newcomer Rory MacDonald.

While MacDonald may be new to the PFL cage, he’s no stranger to high-stakes showdowns. The 32-year-old Canadian MacDonald previously challenged for the UFC welterweight title and held the Bellator welterweight title, making him one of the most accomplished and successful 170-pound fighters on earth.

Cooper can change all that in a flash though, as his 14 knockouts in 22 career victories indicate. One of the most violent finishers in all of MMA, Cooper III poses a threat to all challengers –– MacDonald included.

The PFL Playoffs 1 card also features some can’t-miss action in the men’s lightweight division, as No. 1 seed Loik Radzhabov rematches No. 4 seed Alexander Martinez to kick off the fight card on ESPN2. In April, Radzhabov lost a close split decision to Martinez, giving him all the fuel he needs to come out firing Friday night in Hollywood.

The 10-fight card kicks off Friday night, Aug. 13, with a preliminary card airing live on ESPN+ beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET. The remainder of the card will simulcast on ESPN2 & ESPN+ at 9 p.m. ET. For additional broadcast details, click here.
